Als Sänger im Chor, als Dirigent im Musikverein, oder einfach als interessierter Musiker sehen wir häufig nicht, was hinter den Kulissen vor sich geht. Bei der Programmplanung eines Dirigenten oder bei der Kritik eines Konzertes, die wir in der Zeitung lesen, hinterfragen wir normalerweise nicht, welche musikwissenschaftlichen Zusammenhänge dem Programm zugrunde liegen. In dieser Einführungsveranstaltung für jeden interessierten Musiker wollen wir zwei Themenfelder aus der Musikwissenschaft näher beleuchten.

The Good Friday concert at the Winspear centre, Edmonton, Canada, has been a tradition for decades. Aberdeen Bach Choir: Lo Sposalizio

This will be a concert to celebrate the centuries-old tradition of Venice’s annual carnival and ceremonial Marriage to the Sea. The concert will feature sacred, secular and instrumental music by Monteverdi, Gabrieli, Rovetta, and contemporaries, as the choir presents a musical reconstruction of this event as it might have sounded in the 1630s.
