Biography

Tobias Patrick Wolf, born in Linz am Rhein, Germany, studied in Cologne and Bonn in Germany before he came to live in Aberdeen, Scotland in 2015. Tobias’ career in the music industry started with a position at the International Beethovenfest Bonn and a liaison with international participants including the world’s most renowned orchestras, soloists and conductors, such as Sir Simon Rattle, Valery Gergiev, Sir Colin Davis, Gustavo Dudamel, Sir John Elliot Gardiner, and many more.

Wolf first appeared as a conductor in Scotland when he gave his debut with the University of Aberdeen Wind Ensemble at the Aberdeen and North East of Scotland Music Festival 2016 which was awarded with a Gold award for an ‘outstanding’ performance. He is Assistant Conductor of the University of Aberdeen Symphony Orchestra, the Marischal Chamber Orchestra and Aberdeen University Choral Society since 2017,  and Music Director of The King’s Philharmonic Wind Orchestra since its foundation in May 2016, bringing with his explosive energy and motivating character the challenging repertoire to be played at the very highest level.

Tobias Wolf has been awarded the James Lobban Conducting Scholarship in November 2017 and will be Assistant Conductor of the Aberdeen Bach Choir for the season 2017/2018 performing Bach's Christmas Oratorio in December 2017 and conducting parts of a concert in April 2018.

He was appointed District Youth Conductor in the administrative district of Neuwied, Germany in 2010 and is to this day welcomed as Guest Conductor of various German Ensembles in both North-Rhine Westphalia and Rhineland Palatinate. Tobias Patrick Wolf was Artistic Director of the klangTunnel Music Festival 2015 that took place at the Ludendorff Bridge Tunnel of Erpel, a unique venue famous around the world for its links to the Second World War. 

Concert Tours and Music Projects have lead him to many places in Europe, including amongst many others: Milan (Italy), London (England), Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh (Scotland), Crakow (Poland), Prizren (Kosovo), Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin (Germany), etc. Besides his engagements as a conductor, he has performed as a Trumpet player for the Marischal Chamber Orchestra (Principal Trumpet), University of Aberdeen Symphony Orchestra (Piccolo and Second Trumpet), Aberdeen University Concert Band and Wind Band (Principal Trumpet), UoA Opera Society Orchestra, amongst others. Under the direction of royal wedding composer Professor Paul Mealor, Tobias sang Tenor in the Aberdeen University Chamber Choir who released their Top 3 UK Chart Album ‘Immortal Memmory’ in 2017. He performed for members of the Royal family, including HM The Queen and HRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.
